As the 2011 New Mexico state legislature grappled with how to close a near half-billion budget deficit, funding for dual credit courses found itself in the crosshairs, to the detriment of New Mexico’s students.
Dual credit courses are those college-level courses that a student takes in high school and earns credit in two places – credit toward high school graduation and credit toward a two- or four-year college degree.
